People give money to THIS?

Jesus H. Christ. I can't seem to break $150 for a worthy cause -- going to Iraq and bringing you people news at great risk to life and limb -- and this girl has raised $3,348.94 for a boob job. Not to make mountains out of molehills here, but after you've gone over and checked out Michelle's boobs (I know you're going to,) please come back and drop something in the kitty over at back-to-iraq.com. I'm working my ass off here and I don't want to go bust.

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

(P.S. As of today, I'm now a very cute, perky 23-year-old girl in need of your help.)

Priorities, Chris, priorities. You know I am reading the Bejamin and Simon book called The Age Of Sacred Terror. It pretty much says the same things your complaining about. Pathetic. I guess I can forget about asking for donations for my Silk Road trip this summer.

Have a heart, Chris. The poor

girl needs all the help she can

get. (Yes, I peeked) Look at

it this way. Let’s hope the

poor girl has lots of personal-ity

ity. She’s gonna need it, boob

job or not.

I think we need to start a website that raises money to lobotomize the apathetic. That way they could have a lack of affect to go with their lack of intellect.

OK, OK, I’m joking. I’d only give them prefrontal leucotomies.

I think what we need is some kind of website raising money to give Saddam Hussein boobs.

It’s a well known fact that nobody takes a Middle Eastern dictator with double Ds seriously, and Saddam would just slink away to self-imposed exile in red-faced shame.

Did you know that iranians can’t access PayPal due to “economic sanctions” against their country? (IP-blocking). I’m sure that if they could, it wouldn’t make a difference either ;-)

As a poor PhD student from Holland I’m not able to support your trip. Nevertheless, keep up the good work here, Back-to-Iraq is very informative.

Iraq Or Bust.

Maybe if you promised to get breast implants once in Baghdad…

“not to make mountains out of molehills…”

which is exactly what she did…

Well, I hope I’m not the only contributor Atrios sent your way. I kicked in thirty. Good luck, stay safe, and for God’s sake, bring out some images. Only TV makes a differencetoday.

Thanks to everyone for your comments!

I’d contribute, but my guess is that you’ve got about a 95% chance of never being heard from again. I don’t want to be part of that kind of foolishness. You might try reading about the OSS guys in Italy during WWII, actually all of Europe is a good case study. Few made it out alive. There are reasons for that.

I peeked- giveboobs.com is freakin’ hilarious. I even gave her a dollar. Sorry.

About me

Hi there! Thanks for stopping in. I'm Christopher Allbritton, former AP and New York Daily News reporter. In 2002, I went stumbling around Iraqi Kurdistan, the northern part of Iraq outside Saddam's direct control, looking for stories. (Some might call it "looking for trouble.") In March 2003, I made it back in time for the war, becoming the Web's first fully reader-funded journalist-blogger. With the support of thousands of readers, we raised almost $15,000. You can read my dispatches here. It was one of the moments in journalism when everything worked. It was a grand -- and successful -- experiment in independent journalism. In 2004, I moved to Iraq, where I would spend the next two years. It was a raucous, scary and exciting place with a lot of news going on. But I've since moved on to Beirut and the wider region. I now report for a variety of outlets.

Won't you consider donating to support reportage from the Middle East? Your generosity directly feeds reporting costs such as visas, travel, fees and other expenses. I already have a bullet-proof vest, so no need to fund that.
