BEIRUT — Israel is threat­en­ing mas­sive attacks across the south of the coun­try fol­low­ing a Hezbol­lah mis­sile attack on Haifa that killed eight Israelis ear­lier today. Tel Aviv has appar­ently been put on alert. Israel is claim­ing that Hezbol­lah used a larger rocket, the Fajr, which has about a 40-km range and a larger pay­load.
Res­i­dents of south­ern vil­lages in Lebanon also have been given two or three hours before Israel begins attack­ing the area.
